Landmark News
Hello from the Landmark Community.
Hope the reading of this article finds you well.
The weather has been so hot that we have just been staying inside where it is nice and cool. We enjoyed several activities last week.
I think our main activity last week was our Elvis concert on Thursday afternoon. Elvis was in the building! Butch Owens was our Elvis impersonator and I am sure that all of you know Butch. He does a wonderful job. The residents said he sung just like Elvis and all the staff here at the Landmark agreed.
Thank you Butch, for taking time out of your busy schedule to come by and sing for us.
We would like to thank Ms. Mirlean Hester for letting us decorate with and show off her Elvis quilt that she made not long after Elvis Presley passed away. Ms. Hester put a lot of time into making the quilt. She also told Activity Assistant Director, Carrie Timbes, that her husband, Blanton Hester who passed away a few years ago, helped her make the quilt. It holds many memories for Ms. Hester and she did a wonderful job.
If you are visiting one day at the Landmark you might want to stop by and ask Ms. Hester if you can see her Elvis quilt. You will be impressed.
We also recognized the Birthday of Hawaii which was Aug. 17. We all wore our leis and enjoyed mango smoothies while listing to one of our residents Ms. Olene Thompson's favorite songs Blue Hawaii. We would like to thank our hula girls RN and Charge Nurse Julie Michael, LPN Debra Henry, Assistant Dietary Manager Regina Bowen, CNA Amanda Hutcheson, and Dietary Department Linda Burress.
We enjoyed the monthly birthday party this week with the Gaston Ladies. They provided some wonderful refreshments for us and brought gifts to all our birthday residents that celebrated a birthday this month.
We would also like to thank Gaston Baptist Church for the bingo prizes. We enjoyed the Bible study and singing from James Wroten. Jimmie and Tulon Lambert were here on Friday afternoon to sing for us and as always we look forward to their singing and visit and we are so glad to have them coming once a month.
The residents are still enjoying home grown watermelons from various families that have been so kind to share with us. This week Ms. Cora Bishop's, who is one of our long time residents, son, Charles McAnally brought us several watermelons to enjoy.
The residents at the Landmark Assisted Living enjoyed playing bingo, rolo golf, and doing exercises this past week. They also enjoyed the worship service with Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Dickerson on Sunday morning and the Bible study from Charlie Kennedy on Wednesday.
We were very proud Ms. Emily Bullock came down to the Elvis concert on Thursday afternoon. The residents enjoyed the fellowship on Friday night with fish and all the trimmings.
Mr. Travis Holley and Ms. Joyce Burks are the birthday residents for this months at the Assisted Living. Happy Birthday to you both!
We would like to thank all the churches and individuals who came by to visit this past week at the Landmark Nursing and Rehab Center and the Landmark Assisted Living, and as always, we look forward to your next visit.
Our next family council meeting will be Monday, September 10 at 5 p.m. in the conference room. Refreshments will be served and all family members are invited and encouraged to attend. If you have any questions feel free to contact Jackie Lambert at 720-0972.
